I have been to five of the world’s seven continents but I have never visited my own nation’s capital. Is that a shame or what? It almost borders on criminal, is what I think. Just today while watching television coverage of the death of President Gerald Ford, I resolved to visit Washington, D.C., sometime in 2007 (Mark doesn’t know it yet). Luring me there the most are the monuments and war memorials that pay tribute to the veterans in my family and to the countless number of other Americans who have served our country.

I am going to start searching for airfare right now.

I have to say, Vega really is a very happy dog. We had to keep him in the spare bedroom for two days and was good about it. We left the door open and put up a board to keep him in. He complained only a couple of times. Here’s his Christmas portrait for 2006. Isn’t he so cute?!
