Dad is moving to Arizona. Dad does not want to drive an enormous U-Haul truck out to Arizona. Dad would like someone else to drive all of his stuff contained in said enormous U-Haul out to Arizona for him.

Enter Francesca and Mark.

Being one who loves a multi-state road trip, and one to never turn down the opportunity for adventure, I volunteered my (our) services. Mark and I will take off Friday afternoon, hoping to arrive in Scottsdale, Arizona, sometime on Sunday. We will then spend the next few days in Scottsdale, including the 4th of July. How long is the ride, you ask? Too long. Well, probably about 28 hours. What will the weather be like? “Africa” hot! The forecast along the interstates we will be traveling is scorching, to put it mildly. Does aforementioned enormous U-Haul have air conditioning? You better believe it! Am I crazy for agreeing to such a task? I’ll let you decide.

I will have dad’s laptop so I will be blogging from the road (that’s if the laptop or I don’t melt).

That is the best way I can describe the elation I’ve been feeling since my ticket to Italy was booked last night. Yes, I am finally heading to The Motherland. Plans are very loose at this point; Felicia and I are arriving in Rome, after a brief layover in Brussels, on September 25th, and we will depart Rome to return home on October 11th. We’ve got lots of filling-in-the-blanks to do, in terms of where to go and for how long. Stay tuned for pre-trip planning and itinerary details. Ciao!
