Road trip!

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

Dad is moving to Arizona. Dad does not want to drive an enormous U-Haul truck out to Arizona. Dad would like someone else to drive all of his stuff contained in said enormous U-Haul out to Arizona for him.

Enter Francesca and Mark.

Being one who loves a multi-state road trip, and one to never turn down the opportunity for adventure, I volunteered my (our) services. Mark and I will take off Friday afternoon, hoping to arrive in Scottsdale, Arizona, sometime on Sunday. We will then spend the next few days in Scottsdale, including the 4th of July. How long is the ride, you ask? Too long. Well, probably about 28 hours. What will the weather be like? “Africa” hot! The forecast along the interstates we will be traveling is scorching, to put it mildly. Does aforementioned enormous U-Haul have air conditioning? You better believe it! Am I crazy for agreeing to such a task? I’ll let you decide.

I will have dad’s laptop so I will be blogging from the road (that’s if the laptop or I don’t melt).

Andiamo all’Italia

Monday, June 26th, 2006

That is the best way I can describe the elation I’ve been feeling since my ticket to Italy was booked last night. Yes, I am finally heading to The Motherland. Plans are very loose at this point; Felicia and I are arriving in Rome, after a brief layover in Brussels, on September 25th, and we will depart Rome to return home on October 11th. We’ve got lots of filling-in-the-blanks to do, in terms of where to go and for how long. Stay tuned for pre-trip planning and itinerary details. Ciao!

Dads and sports

Saturday, June 17th, 2006
I am a sports nut, and I really like to drink beer, but this latest round of mushy Father's Day commercials reminds me that I am still "a girl". First is the Budweiser commercial featuring broadcaster Joe Buck saluting ... [Continue reading this entry]

Weekend festivals

I've got another fun-filled and action packed weekend ahead of me. Hopefully the recovery time won't be as long as last weekend... anyway, summertime in Chicago means street festivals and two of my favorites are going on this weekend. ... [Continue reading this entry]

Countries and states visited

Thursday, June 15th, 2006
I came across this neat little site today. It allows you to create maps highlighting (in red) the countries of the world you've visited, as well as a map of the United States highlighting the states you've visited. ... [Continue reading this entry]

The Italian Tomato Garden

Thursday, June 15th, 2006
An old Italian man lived alone in the country. He wanted to dig his tomato garden, but it was very hard work as the ground was hard. His only son, Vincent, who used to help him, was in prison. The ... [Continue reading this entry]

Meet-up recap

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006
I think I've finally recovered enough to write a little something about the BootsnAll Chicago meet-up this past weekend. It was a blast. Most of it is a blur but it was still an awesome time. Pictures ... [Continue reading this entry]
