I was using my oven today & the smoke detector began to beep in the living room (there was no smoke, but the smoke detector is very sensitive). The loud beeping scared Vega & he ran into the bathroom. After I stopped the beeping & my laughter, I grabbed my camera & snapped these. Seriously, this dog is supposed to protect me?!

When we go through rough times we have a tendency to search various avenues for signs of meaning, truth and inspiration. Historically, I have turned to music and books for such guidance, and lately I am identifying with Canadian singer/songwriter Kathleen Edwards, especially with a line from her song “Good Things”: There are some things that I believe/Like if you’ve got nothing you’ve still got your family
