Love, easy and simple

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

Mom and I were looking through old pictures and artifacts tonight (seems like we do that a lot, no?) and we found this super-size Christmas card that Felicia made in grade school. It was finely crafted on green construction paper with a cut-out snowflake glued to the front cover. On each of the two inside pages is affixed a sheet of lined notebook paper. Written with meticulous penmanship is Felicia’s account of “Why My Family is Important to Me”:

My family is very important to me. We love each other very much. When Christmas comes we try to buy each other presents. When we celebrate birthdays we buy each other presents. That’s one of the ways that we show that we love each other.
If someone gets injured or becomes ill we are always there to help.
My brother plays hockey. When he has a hockey game our whole family goes. When he is on the ice we cheer for him.
My sister goes to St. Ignatius College Prep. When she needs help with her homework, we all try to help her out. For instance, if she has to make a speech, I pretend that I’m part of the audience.
That’s why I want to say Thank You and wish you a Merry Christmas.
Love, Felicia

Just a reminder of how uncomplicated love can be, and also a reminder of how simple life used to be.

Doing anything April 20th?

Wednesday, March 30th, 2005

Dear friends and baseball fans everywhere, Felicia & I have four tickets to a Cubs / Cardinals game in St. Louis on Wednesday, April 20th. Neither of us can attend and we would like to offer these tickets to anyone interested in seeing a top-notch match up of two awesomely talented teams, in a renowned stadium celebrating its last year as a baseball basilica. These tickets came as part of a four-game package, the other three games being in July and September. We realize this game is in the middle of the week (which is why we cannot attend) but we know there are some hard core baseball nutters out there who don’t care about it being a school night. Here is the link to the ad we have placed on Craig’s List. Please let us know here or via private email if you are interested in the tickets. We can’t leave four empty seats at a Cubs / Cards game! That’s just un-American!

How would your license plate read?

Thursday, March 24th, 2005
Just parked behind a Lexus IS 300 with the license plate LX IS 300. My first response when I saw this was "Oh gawd, what a dork!" Should I change mine to ESCP XLT?
